The 2009 Academy Awards nominations / 2009 Academy Awards nominees are here, one step closer to the most coveted distinction in all of Hollywood (and the entire showbiz world). The announcement of the nominees / nominations for the 2009 Oscars is but a few hours away and movie fans around the globe are keenly watching who this year's lucky five in each category will be. The full list of 2009 Academy Awards nominations / 2009 Oscar nominees will be posted on this page as soon as the names are read out tomorrow morning so check back for it. For now, let us look at who has the best chance of a
nomination this year.

In the Best Actress category, there is no doubt that Kate Winslet will be included in the list of nominees. She has always been an Academy favorite having garnered five (?) previous nods (with no win yet) and her double win at the Golden Globes a few weeks ago have only bolstered her chances of once again being honored. Meryl Streep will be there too. She is another Oscar favorite who has been consistently appearing in the nominees list almost every year, and her performance in "Doubt" solidifies her chances of a nomination. Anne Hathaway and Angelina Jolie will most like be in the list as well. Their names have consistently appeared in critics' lists this year and there is very little chance of a snub at the Oscars. Who will be the fifth one? Let's wait and see.

In the Best Actor category, I ca only name two actors as sure bets for the nominations - Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Sean Penn for Milk. Mickey Rourke won the trophy at the Golden Globes and his chances for an Oscar nom are very good but there is still a possibility of a snub at the Oscars considering his bad boy image in Hollywood. The two other slots remain up for grabs. Will Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel land an Oscar nomination? The movie is generating a lot of buss especially after that Golden Globe win but is it enough for its lead star to land an Oscar nod?

One of the most awaited announcements this year will be the Best Supporting Actor category and the possibility of a nomination (and win) for Heath Ledger. He has posthumously received nominations and awards from other previous award-giving bodies and his chances of getting into the Academy Awards list are very good. I think he will get it. For the other categories, let's just wait for the announcement.

It's a busy weeks for television this week with premieres and award shows to look forward to. And that's on top of the regular schedule that is already full-packed with drama, actions and fun.

Fox 24 premieres this week with a 4-episode season 7 premiere extravaganza starting on Sunday 1/11/2009. 24 season 7 episode 1 opens the series after a long break closely followed by 24 episode 2. The day after, on January 12, 24 season 7 episode 3 and episode 4 complete the premiere marathon.

The women of Wisteria Lane will not be outdone. Desperate Housewives season 5 episode 12 continues the drama and intrigue on Sunday night.

The biggest event this week is, of course, the 2009 Golden Globe Awards which promises glamor, excitement and surprises to usher in the homestretch of the Hollywood awards season.

The Big Bang Theory season 2 episode 12 continues its hilarious run as the nerds enter a robot contest. However, one in their group may not make it as he has suddenly been hit with depression. Who and why? Tine in The Big Bang Theory 2.12 to find out.

Kim Kardashian guest stars in How I Met Your Mother season 4 episode 12. What role will she be playing? Will she be her usual hot self? this promises to be an exciting episode. Don't miss How I Met Your Mother 4.12.

The Bachelor 13 continues with week 2 of its reality competition. Fifteen girls remain. What challenges, intrigues and heartaches are in store for them. Tune in to The Bachelor 13 episode 2 to find out.

Kyle XY is the other show to premiere this week. Kyle XY 3.01 continues where it left off last season with Kyle and Amanda held captive. Will Kyle be able to free himself and rescue Amanda?

The Prison Break season 4 episode 17 (s04e17) promo video has just been released, and it's packed with exciting scenes to look forward to. With the rumored ending of this series at the end of its current season, Prison Break fans are understandably hungry for every installment of this drama. However, no air date of this episode, 'R.I.P.' (Prison Break 4.17) has been given yet. The press release only says this episode will be shown in the "spring"? That long? Well, I guess there's nothing we can do but wait for more updates, promos and spoilers.

From the promo below, it says that Michael and Lincoln will be divided in their quest for Scylla. What does this mean, and what will this lead to? All these questions will be answered when Prison Break 4.17 (season 4 episode 17) returns this spring. The full video stream of 'R.I.P' will be available as soon as the episode is shown on television, and a copy of it will be posted on this page so check back for it regularly. The 4.17 episode of "Prison Break" will see Michael and Sara on the run, while Lincoln connects the woman he believes to be his mother.
