'Twilight', the vampire romance based on the novel of the same name, took a big bite out of the weekend box office by raking in $70.5 million. The film was well on its way after a blazing start of $35 million on its first day of release -- which included large numbers from sold-out midnight Thursday screenings.

Exit polls indicated that as much as 75 percent of the movie's audience was female, and coincidentally, the numbers helped make 'Twilight' the biggest opener for a female director in history. It was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who until now, was probably best known for directing 'Thirteen' and 'Lords of Dogtown'.

Following its debut, the movie has also been guaranteed a sequel by Summit Entertainment. 'New Moon' will be based on the second in the series of best-selling 'Twilight' books by author Stephenie Meyer. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will return as its star-crossed lovers, but Hardwicke's future is less certain.

'Twilight' has put the relatively small Summit Entertainment on the map. The film cost $35 million to make and has already garnered a huge profit for the studio that was formed in April 2007.

The other major release of the weekend, Walt Disney's animated 'Bolt', which featured the voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, made $27 million to take third place. 'Quantum of Solace' had a large drop, as expected, but still managed to stay in second place -- although 'Bolt' and 'Quantum' could flip spots when final box office numbers are released later on Monday.

1. Twilight, $70.5 million.
2. Quantum of Solace, $27.4 million.
3. Bolt, $27 million.
4. Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa, $16 million.
5. Role Models. $7.2 million.
6. Changeling, $2.6 million.
7. High School Musical 3: Senior Year, $2 million.
8. Zack and Miri Make a Porno, $1.7 million.
9. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, $1.67 million.
10. The Secret Life of Bees, $1.28 million.

A Arkansas couple is suing McDonald's for $3 million after nude photos of his wife, which were on his cell phone were purportedly leaked online.

Phillip Sherman says he accidentally left his phone, with the nude photos, at a McDonald's in Fayetteville. When he called, staff promised to secure the phone until he could get it back. They got the phone back but wife Tina Sherman began receiving offensive calls and text messages about the pictures after he left it at the McDonald's.

The couple claims they then discovered that the nude pictures she had sent to her husband's phone months earlier had now appeared online. So the Shermans are suing McDonald's, the owner of the franchise involved and the restaurant's manager, saying they've suffered emotional distress, embarrassment and damage to their reputation, and even had to move to a new home.

A BBC report states that the photos were removed from a website that held them, however, there is debate over whether the Tina Sherman nude photos existed in the first place since they are nowhere to be found.

ABC has cancelled 'Pushing Daisies', 'Eli Stone', and 'Dirty Sexy Money'. The network announced it has decided against picking up either show for a full season due to less than favorable ratings. The news comes a day after 'Pushing Daisies' received its worst-ever numbers in the key 18-49 demographic. ABC stayed away from using the 'cancel' word in its announcement, and simply chose to say no additional episodes would be ordered, but 'Daisies' star Kristin Chenoweth confirmed her show has definitely been cancelled.

"I just heard the news," Chenoweth told 'E!' at the premiere of her new movie 'Four Christmases'. "Obviously it's a bittersweet night.

"I think the writers' strike did it," she says. "I think that the ratings for all the shows are poor this year and it's not what the networks were hoping for. I'm not sure why ABC decided to axe our show. I know they don't own us, so I know that probably has something to do with it, but who knows?"

"I just found out about an hour ago. Pushing Daisies will probably forever be one of my most happiest times of my career. I loved being apart of that show, such quality, and I'm very sad."

Meanwhile, executive producer Bryan Fuller says that the cancellation means the show will end a cliffhanger, but "we are talking to DC Comics about doing comic books that will wrap up our storylines, and I already have a pitch for a movie ready to go."

"To be honest," says Fuller, "I'm really not feeling very boo hoo about it. I am so proud of the show. We put together 22 really good episodes, and there is a lot to be proud of."

ABC intends to air the remaining episodes that have been shot for each show, either in its current time or an alternate slot. 'Pushing Daisies' was averaging 6.4 million viewers, 'Dirty Sexy Money' 6.6 million and 'Eli Stone' just under 8 million.
