A British woman almost split from her boyfriend of four years after a retail store's web site showed her joint card had been used to buy condoms. Upon seeing a purchase for 12-pack of condoms on a list of purchases made with her Tesco ClubCard, Lynn Newby jumped to the conclusion that her boyfriend, Andy Allott, was having an affair.

"It gives a list of everything bought on a ClubCard and there at the top of the list was a packet of Mates condoms," Newby tells a reproter. "I knew I hadn't bought them so I went in and accused Andy, who had not idea what I was talking about."


Newby didn't believe her boyfriend's denials, assumed he was lying, and accused him of deleting the items from the site after they mysteriously disappeared. She even almost canceled a planned vacation with Allott -- until a friend from work informed her that a pack of condoms had also mysteriously appeared on her Tesco ClubCard account.

After she told the chain about her story, Tesco Chief Executive Terry Leahy sent her $200 and a letter of apology, admitting the condoms were mistakenly added to some accounts for a brief period when a new employee incorrectly put information about a promotion into the store's computer. A judge has ordered a 19-year-old man to write an apology to his hometown in New York for dressing as a 6-foot penis at a high school graduation. The judge also ordered Calvin Morett to pay to have the apology published in a local newspaper, pay court fees and
perform 24 hours of community service. He has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.

Morett donned the giant penis costume and ran onto the stage in the middle of the Saratoga Performing Arts Centre's graduation ceremony, the same school where he graduated from last year.

He then sprayed some of the 5,000 people in the crowd with Silly String. His strange stunt has attracted global notoriety but caused outrage in his hometown.

Here's the first teaser trailer for 'Terminator Salvation', the highly anticipated reboot of the 'Terminator' franchise coming out soon.

The film, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, stars Christian Bale (again?) as John Connor, the man who leads what is left of the human race against the machines. It's scheduled for release on May 22, 2009 and even though this first trailer is just that -- a teaser -- it gives you a feel of what to expect.

It looks like the women of Wisteria Lane may have only a few more years to resolve their assorted problems. "Desperate Housewives" creator and executive producer Marc Cherry told a meeting of the Television Critics Association on Thursday that he plans to end the ABC series after seven seasons. The domestic comedy-drama starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria begins its fifth season this fall.

"I love working with these gals, but the idea of letting anyone else take the show from me kind of makes me sad and sick to my stomach," Cherry said. "We're going to get out while people still like us. Of course, this could be some clever ruse on my part to get tremendous amounts of money in season eight, but who knows."

Cherry, who took part in a "Desperate" panel discussion, also joined a Q&A session with other top ABC producers. One topic of conversation was the refusal by "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl to submit her name for Emmy consideration. Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on the ABC medical drama, claimed last season's scripts were sub-par. Two of
Heigl's co-stars, Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson, made the Emmy cut when nominations were announced recently.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has finally officially announced the nominees for the 60th Annual Emmy Awards. Even though shortlists for a few categories leaked out a couple of weeks ago, the final announcement has cleaned up the number of nominees in each category and as you'll see below, cable shows like 'Mad Men' and 'Damages', for the first time ever, made the cut.

NBC's '30 Rock' was the most recognized series overall with 17 nominations, and "Mad Men" was a close second with 16 total nominations of its own. The 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out on September 21.

'The Dark Knight' will soar into the box office stratosphere with its debut on Friday, on its way to an opening weekend that is expected to easily break the $100 million mark -- but will the movie be able to break 'Spider-Man 3's record for biggest opening weekend ever?

Many experts are quick to put 'Spider-Man 3's opening weekend record of $151.1 million out of the reach of the caped crusader. But consider this, 'Spider-Man 3' played on over 10,000 screens at 4,252 locations when it opened in May 2007. 'The Dark Knight' is opening at 4,366 theaters. Add to it the fact that many theatres have added additional screenings at 3 AM and 6 AM to keep up with demand, the positive reviews, word-of-mouth, and anticipation for the movie -- a lot of which was missing from 'Spider-Man 3' and we think it's definitely a possibility.

The one clear advantage 'Spider-Man 3' did have, that 'The Dark Knight' does not, was almost no competition at the box office. A May opening left the field wide open for the movie,
while 'The Dark Knight' on other other hand has to contend with 'Hellboy II', 'Wall-E' and 'Hancock', which has performed better than expected.

However, we're certain that the movie will break another record held by the third Spider-Man -- the biggest single-day gross of $59.8 million -- with an unprecedented Friday opening, and earn a place in the best opening weekend's of all-time.

Miss Venezuela was crowned Miss Universe 2008 but the hot topic at the event was Miss USA falling down during the evening gown competition for the second year in a row.

Crystle Stewart of Texas was the unlucky girl to take the tumble. After being announced on stage, Stewart tripped on the train of her evening gown as she made her entrance. She responded by smiling and clapping to the crowd.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army' squeaked out a win for top spot at the box office, in what was a closer than expected weekend battle between 'Hellboy' and last weekend's box office king 'Hancock'.

According to early studio estimates, the 'Hellboy' sequel took over the top spot with a difference in sales of just $3 million. 'Hellboy II' earned an estimated $36 million in its opening weekend, and 'Hancock' had a solid second-week performance with $33 million. If you're wondering, the original Hellboy opened with $23.2 million in 2004.

Opening in third spot with $20.6 million was New Line's 3-D adventure 'Journey to the Center of the Earth', which stars Brendan Fraser in a modern twist on Jules Verne's classic. While Eddie Murphy absolutely bombed with his comedy as evidently no one wanted to 'Meet Dave'. Probably because nobody remembers a time when Eddie Murphy actually used
to be funny since it was so long ago.

One 'The Boston Globe' critic puts it well: "There's a tremendous possibility that Murphy has no friends. What kind of pal would let the star of `Pluto Nash' near another science-fiction comedy?" Especially after 'The Adventures of Pluto Nash', which cost about $90 million and took in just $4.4 million during its entire run.

Angelina Jolie has finally given birth to her twins, a boy and a girl. Jolie's doctor, Michel Sussmann, said the Oscar winner had the twins by Caesarean section on Saturday evening with partner Brad Pitt at her side: "He (Pitt) was my assistant. He was perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children, very moved and very emotional... When the babies arrived he was very euphoric. The emotion was very strong for him. I felt the emotion of both the mother and the father. Angelina Jolie was speaking, was laughing with her husband. They were happy."

"For a Caesarean the length of stay varies between five and seven days. But since these are twins, and they were born a bit early, the stay might be a bit longer," Sussmann said. He also confirmed that the Caesarean was moved forward from its originally planned date, thought to be a week later, "for medical reasons."

Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born a minute apart and are the ultimate million-dollar babies, with their first photos expected to fetch a fortune. Knox weighed in at slightly
over 5 pounds, while Vivienne weighed exactly 5 pounds. The mayor of Nice delivered birth certificates for the twins himself, which he also displayed to reporters.

Nice Matin, the local newspaper in the city of Nice in France, estimates the twins' photos are worth more than $11 million. While other experts believe they could fetch as much as $15 million.

Meanwhile, the couple still haven't announced any plans to get hitched. Most recently, Jolie told 'People' magazine: "People have made a lot out of it that we're not. But we both have been married before, and it's very easy to get married, but it's not easy to build a family and be parents together. Any maybe we've done it backwards, but we certainly feel married."

In an upcoming book, Christopher Ciccone, Madonna's brother says that the singer loves her career and herself more than anything else and believes that she is the center of the universe. In excerpts released from the memoir, Christopher Ciccone writes: "I hope that it is Kabbalah's lesson that she is not the center of the universe."

Being released at a time when rumors about a possible divorce between Madonna and Guy Ritchie are swirling, Ciccone says that she and Ritchie love each other and he believes they are "passionately committed" to staying married.

However, he does say Ritchie's presence in Madonna's life, is the reason he is no longer close to his sister and calls him the "the death knell" of the their bond. He says Madonna likes to be in control, sometimes so much that she becomes self-absorbed, and still
remembers "how little faith many people once had in her" when she was starting out in the industry.

The 342-page book also hits on a number of other topics including Madonna's affair with Sean Penn, who Madonna apparently said was a "paranoid control freak", and how Bruce Willis was openly flirting with other women while he was still married to Demi Moore. He also implies that Madonna enjoys kissing women and specifically recalls a passionate kiss she had with Gwyneth Paltrow on the mouth during a New Year's Eve dance.

As you would imagine, the book, even with its 'mild' content, has Madonna's camp upset, and her publicist believes the book removes any chances of Christopher reconciling with his sister. 'Life With My Sister Madonna' is scheduled to be released next week.

Apparently Alex Rodriguez wasn't Madonna's first 'friend' in the major leagues. In an interview with 'Us Weekly' magazine, Jose Canseco says that the 'Material Girl' tried to seduce him and even wanted to have his baby.

The former Yankee says that Madonna's people approached him in 1991, saying "she was interested in meeting me." Canseco claims she tried to romance him even though, like A-Rod, he was married at the time.

"She wanted to get married and have a child with me — she wanted a Cuban child," he says.

When asked how the first meeting went down, Canseco recalls: "She brought me up to her room and turned on 'Truth or Dare' and showed me the masturbation scene and asked me what I thought about it... I didn't really know what to say. You have to remember I was very
young at the time and I was very intimidated... We went downstairs (at her house in the Hollywood Hills) and she came over and said, 'What would you do if I kissed you?' and then sat on my lap and kissed me."

"I then told her I was trying to work things out with my wife. That if I left her I would lose a lot of money and she said, 'I have lots of money. Don't worry about that'. I had to leave at that point so I got up and left."

He says the calls continued for a few weeks but admits he was "not intimate" with the singer, even though he thinks Madonna believed "she could persuade me or seduce me over time."

SCIENTISTS are strapping plastic tanks to the backs of cattle to collect their burps in a novel approach to studying global warming. Researchers in Argentina say the slow digestive system of cattle makes them a producer of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that gets far less public attention than carbon dioxide.

Scientists around the world are studying the amount of methane in cattle burps and Argentine researchers say they have come up with a unique way. Attaching a red plastic tank to a beast's back and connecting it through a tube to the animal's stomach, scientists say they can trap bovine burps and analyze them.


"When we got the first results, we were surprised. Thirty per cent of Argentina's (total greenhouse) emissions could be generated by cattle," said Guillermo Berra, a researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural Technology.

One of the world's biggest beef producers, Argentina has some 55 million head of cattle. Berra said the researchers never thought a beast weighing 550kg could produce 800 to 1000 liters of emissions each day. Yikes!

With the current economic downturn globally, many businesses are folding up. However, one firm in Portugal is still standing tall despite the crisis. Husband and wife Francisco and Casilda Figueiredo are among the last exponents of a traditional Portuguese handicraft -- making ornamental ceramic penises.

For more than three decades, the couple has carefully shaped thousands of ceramic male organs, molding them into upright shapes and painting them in life-like colors for export to Germany, France and North America. Francisco and Casilda, aged 68 and 65, still toil away in a humble village workshop in the Caldas da Rainha region, about 100 km (60 miles) north of Lisbon, but say the tradition is dying out: "The days of the ceramics penises here are numbered, I see no possibility of survival. It will never be like it was in the past."

The tradition is said to have started in Caldas da Rainha when King Dom Luis, who ruled from 1861 to 1889, suggested that local potters make something more interesting. The
traditional craft has faced a slow decline as buyers in Portugal and beyond become more liberal and the figures lose their ability to provoke.

The couple produces ceramic mugs with a penis sticking out of the bottom or the side, penis-shaped bottles and ceramic soccer figures with the male organ popping out from under a flag.

UK paper 'The Daily Mail' is reporting that a movie of the popular 'Friends' sitcom has finally been given the green light and could hit the big screen within the next few years. It says that all the cast members from the original series -- Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer -- will reprise their roles for a big-screen adaptation "within the next 18 months."

Quoting an inside source, the paper says: "Jennifer, Courteney and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances. The box office success of 'Sex
and the City' has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right. Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions."

Talk of a reunion movie has been going on since 'Friends' ended its ten season run in 2004. Aniston has reportedly been the major hold-out in previous talks but appears to now be warming up to the idea.

"As the biggest star of the Friends franchise, Jennifer can't help but look at what's happened with Sarah Jessica Parker and the Sex And The City film and be a little jealous", says the source. "The truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she'd love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again."

"In that sense, it's 'Sex and the City' all over again. There's no movie unless you can reunite the whole cast and keep them all happy financially." So far, SATC has earned over $300 million worldwide. "Friends is at the top of the list of properties that can do the same level of business, or even more."

The first teaser trailer for the 22nd James Bond film, titled 'Quantum of Solace', has been released. The movie marks Daniel Craig's second time out as agent 007, with his first being the highest grossing Bond ever worldwide, surpassing 'Die Another Day' which earned $432 million.

It begins just an hour after the last one ended with the plot following directly from 'Casino Royale', as Bond tries to uncover the truth about Vesper, who seemingly betrayed him. Co-producer Michael Wilson has said it will contain about twice as many action sequences
as 'Casino Royale'.

'Quantum of Solace' will hit theatres worldwide on November 7, although its UK premiere will be one week earlier on October 31.

Following news that Lindsay Lohan's dad has provided a DNA sample for a paternity test to find out if he's the father of a Montana teen, here are first photos of his alleged daughter. Michael Lohan doesn't believe the 13-year-old, Ashley, is his daughter and tells the 'New York Post' that: "If the test is found to be negative she's gonna be sued for libel and defamation."

"She contacted me and said she had a paternity test with her ex-husband and it was negative and she believed the child was mine," says Lohan. "She said I was the only one she was with but I find that hard to believe. She was with a number of men after me and
was going through a second divorce right now."

"Even if the test is positive, I have nothing to say to her because of the way she handled this. How can someone say I have another child when no testing has been done? Why did she wait so long? Is it because she wants money? Or is it because she wants to claim that Ashley is my children's sister? She said she wants her daughter to have a relationship with my kids - especially Lindsay and Ali - and that's pretty sick. I will never force my children to meet with Ashley."

Hot on the heels of the short list for top ten comedies and dramas announced last week, word is leaking out on who's in the running for best comedy actress, and supporting drama actor -- even though the Academy made a point to announce last week that the acting lists would not be disclosed.

And the short lists do hold a few surprises. For starters, comedian Sarah Silverman made the top ten for best comedy actress for the first time with 'The Sarah Silverman Program', while Teri Hatcher was notably snubbed after all three of her 'Desperate Housewives' costars Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria made the list.

On the drama side, last year's Emmy winner and 'Lost' actor Terry O'Quinn didn't even make the short list. Although co-stars Michael Emerson and Naveen Andrews did manage to earn a spot. Other noteble names left out were Masi Oka from 'Heroes', Donald Sutherland from 'Dirty Sexy Money', John Larroquette from 'Boston Legal' and Robert Sean Leonard from
'House'.
