A 17-year-old boy was killed by the Batman roller coaster at a Six Flags amusement park in Georgia on Saturday after entering a marked restricted area. The teen was struck and killed instantly by the coaster after scaling 6-foot fences marked by danger signs.
"The areas where the individuals entered were clearly marked with signs that stated 'Restricted area/Authorized personnel only' and a sign on a locked gate that read 'Danger zone. Do not enter,'" a spokesperson for the park said in the statement.
The theme park remained open on Sunday while the ride was closed for investigation. Early reports are that the teen was trying to retrieve a hat that he lost after riding the Batman ride himself earlier.

'Dark Knight' Pays Tribute to Heath Ledger
Friday, June 27, 2008 | heath ledger, hollywood with 1 Comments »
Warner Bros. has confirmed that closing credits for 'The Dark Knight' will pay tribute to Heath Ledger, who died in January from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, and to special-effects technician Conway Wickliffe, who was killed during filming in a stunt-car accident.
Ledger, of course, plays the Joker in the sequel to 'Batman Begins' and while its release is still roughly three weeks away, many theaters in the USA are reporting that they are nearly sold out for midnight screenings on release night. The highly anticipated movie once again stars Christopher Nolan as the caped crusader, this time pitting him against the villainous and evil Joker -- who will be the best villain in any movie this year, hands down. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman return with the most notable change being Maggie Gyllenhaal
replacing Katie Holmes.
Everyone who worked on the film has been raving about Ledger's performance in the movie, but if you still need to hear one more, director Christopher Nolan says Heath created something "entirely original." He calls his portrayal of the Joker "stunning", "captivating" and one that will "blow people away." A six minute opening video that shows the introduction of the Joker was shown in front of Will Smith's 'I Am Legend' at IMAX theatres in December. It leaked online at the time, and can be seen here in case you missed it. (The photo on the left looks creepy, doesn't it?)

Emmy organizers have released the list of the top 10 comedies and dramas that will compete for the awards in September. The list features a few surprises with the inclusion of 'Family Guy' in the comedy category, and 'The Wire' in the drama category. 'Family Guy' has the chance to win what has even eluded the long-running ''The Simpsons' -- an award for best comedy series.
Meanwhile, 'Desperate Housewives', 'My Name Is Earl', 'Scrubs' and 'Heroes' are all shows that made last year's top 10 lists, but were left out of the shortlist this year. Last year, 'The Sopranos' was named Best Drama in its final season and '30 Rock' won Best Comedy.
The top 10 short lists were determined by votes from the entire television academy, and will now go to academy
members who will judge the contenders. The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on September 21, and will include awards for TV actors, actresses, mini-series, made-for-TV movies and, as usual, a host of other honors.

Naomi Campbell Rage Excuse
Tuesday, June 24, 2008 | celeb news, scandal in the city with 0 Comments »
Naomi Campbell plead guilty to assaulting police officers after a mid-air disturbance on British Airways in a foul-mouthed "air rage" incident, but she offered a 'good ' excuse for her behavior. Campbell, who was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid community work, said she went off because someone on the flight called her a "Golliwog supermodel."
"I was called a racial name on that flight. And that was part of my reaction. Again, nothing to do with the police but yes from British Airways. I was called a golliwog supermodel. I don't think that's really fair, do you?'," asks Campbell. "Would you like it if someone turned round and called you a golliwog supermodel?"
As to who used the term, which refers to a black rag doll, Campbell points the finger at the British Airways staff: "Someone on the flight, not the passenger."
"I mean, I'm proud to be a black woman, I'm proud to be British, I'm proud of the job that I do, but I did not call anyone names of color, of their race. And, you know, I've had to leave all of that out of court... because at the end of the day the real problem was, I took my upset and the end of my wrath came out on the police, which was wrong."
She apologized to the police in the interview, but didn't want anything to do with the airline: "As for British Airways, I just think they are disgusting."
However, the airline rejects Campbell's claim: "British Airways does not accept any allegations of racism. We are proud of our diversity. We have strict policies concerning dignity at work and have long-standing training programs on diversity and inclusion."

Martha Stewart has been denied entry to Britain because of her 2004 conviction for lying about a stock sale. Britain's Home Office, which runs the UK Border Agency, would not comment specifically on the case but said their policy is to "oppose the entry to the UK of individuals where we believe their presence in the United Kingdom is not conducive to the public good or where they have been found guilty of serious criminal offenses abroad."
Stewart's company says the 66-year-old businesswoman lifestyle expert had been planning to travel to the country to conduct business: "Martha loves England; the country and English culture are near and dear to her heart. She has engagements with English companies and business leaders and hopes this can be resolved so that she will be able to visit soon."
You'll recall Stewart was found guilty of conspiracy, making false statements -- related to a personal sale of ImClone Systems stock on December 27, 2001 -- and was sentenced to five months in prison and five months of house arrest.
Martha is hardly a hardened criminal, but rules are rules and it will be interesting to see if they're bent for the celebrity homemaker.

Weekend Box Office Results: 'The Love Guru' Flops
Monday, June 23, 2008 | box office, celeb news, hollywood with 0 Comments »Warner Bros' big screen update of the 1960s t Smart' had an impressive debut weekend with $39.2, to make it the weekend's number one movie -- while 'The Love Guru' was nowhere to be found in the weekend's top three movies.
In fact, Paramount may need some therapy of its own after 'The Love Guru' debuted in fourth spot with just $14 million and flopped right out of the gate. Behind movies such as 'Kung Fu Panda', which is in its third week', and 'The Incredible Hulk', in its second week. The Mike Myers movie has been bashed by critics for being 'unfunny', with the New York Times even saying it is "downright antifunny" and "an experience that makes you wonder if you will ever laugh again."
The flop brings Myers' run of blockbusters, with the three "Shrek" flicks and his 'Austin Powers' sequels, to an end. He co-wrote the script and was a producer on the movie. Somewhat ironic that a spy comedy, 'Get Smart', outdid the master of the spy comedy -- Austin Powers himself, Mike Myers.
Here are the complete top ten for the weekend box office:
1. Get Smart, $39.2 million.
2. Kung Fu Panda, $21.7 million.
3. The Incredible Hulk, $21.6 million.
4. The Love Guru, $14 million.
5. The Happening, $10 million.
6. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, $8.4 million.
7. You Don't Mess With the Zohan, $7.2 million.
8. Sex and the City, $6.5 million.
9. Iron Man, $4 million.
10. The Strangers, $1.9 million.

Pet Shop Refuses to Sell Dog to Paris Hilton!
Friday, June 20, 2008 | celeb news, hollywood, paris hilton with 0 Comments »
The 'New York Post' reports that a Los Angeles pet store refused to sell Paris Hilton a puppy because they thought the socialite was making an 'impulse buy'. The paper reports Paris Hilton was on her way to a photo shoot and "wanted a puppy in the picture with her so it would look cuter." So she went into a pet store and tried to buy a Yorkie but the employee refused to sell her the puppy because it was an 'impulse buy'.
Hilton, who has previously claimed to have 17 dogs, reportedly went 'ballistic' and started screaming "I love my puppies! I want my baby!" but it wasn't to be.
Well, at least now Paris knows what 'no' sounds like.

Gordon Ramsay Stirs Australia
Friday, June 20, 2008 | celeb news, gordon ramsay, television with 0 Comments »
An Australian Senate panel has rejected calls to censor Gordon Ramsay's 'Kitchen Nightmares' and certain swear words from Australian TV after a Senator said the program contained excessive swearing and abusive language. Foul-mouthed chef Ramsay's show is a hit in Australia. However, Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi wanted the show to be examined after he said the most recent episode had contained "the F-word" 80 times in its 40 minutes.
But on Thursday, the Australian Senate rejected the calls and said as long as fair warning before the show was provided, it was fair game. The report concluded, "In the absence on an overwhelming community consensus that particular words be banned altogether, the committee does not believe it is appropriate to make any recommendations with regard to imposing additional limits."
Ramsay, of course, had some advice for the Senator: "Turn over the TV channel. Isn't it easier?" he said in an interview. "I don't mean to swear, it's just the muppets I have to work
with sometimes. We have a good day where things run to total perfection but throw a donkey in the mix and, yeah, you're in the shit."
"The minute you start running the kitchen like it's some form of limp dick society, trust me, get out. I want to run a proper kitchen with a pair of balls, not stand there and wish everybody a Merry Christmas and pat them on the back every time they do a good job. It's high pressure, high energy and, more importantly, real - that's how we keep it every day."

Former British tabloid editor and 'America's Got Talent' judge Piers Morgan said he will always be sorry he introduced Paul McCartney to Heather Mills. Interviewed at the "Howard Stern Show" recently, he said, "Paul asked who she was after seeing her give a speech," Morgan told Stern. "I introduced them... I'm not sure if Paul knew that she was missing a leg at the time." Ha ha ha.
Morgan said he had no idea Mills would turn out to be a "grasping, gold-digging little bimbo", adding, "I was fooled into thinking that she was a good person. She ended up costing Paul $50 million." Morgan first revealed that he introduced her to the musician in his memoirs. The two got married in June 2002, and separated in 2006. Mills was awarded a $48.7 million settlement after a bitter divorce battle.
He also took a shot at fellow 'America's Got Talent' judge David Hasselhoff, calling him a 'tool', and recounting one particular story: "One day, he went out and got a spray tan in the middle of the shoot, so it looks like he tanned during a commercial break. His face had
gotten orange. The audience is going to say, 'Well, David Hasselhoff has gotten a tan halfway through the show.'"
Morgan, who won Trump's first 'Celebrity Apprentice', also briefly spoke about friend and nemesis Stephen Baldwin: "Stephen spent half his time talking about religion and the other half talking about sleeping with hookers in Vegas. Make your mind up, mate."

'I Dream of Jeannie' the Movie
Saturday, June 14, 2008 | hollywood, television, tidbits with 0 Comments »
Producer Sid Ganis has confirmed that an 'I Dream of Jeannie' movie is in the works, and says 'Mulan' writer Rita Hsiao has the perfect script for a big-screen adaptation of the 1960s series.
"She has a terrific, bright, fresh approach to Jeannie's story, with a twist and turn along the way," Ganis says of Hsiao script. "She captured all of our imaginations in the telling of it." She's the latest to take a stab at the script for the project, which has long been in the works, but Ganis believes he's found his script.
"This is such a beloved and iconic character that it has to be told the right way," says Ganis. "You have a loyalty to the character that has to exist, and sometimes it takes time to get there."
He's hoping the script is approved by the studio so he can start selecting the director and cast.

The curse of 'Quantum of Solace' has struck again -- after 007 actor Daniel Craig sliced off the tip of one of his fingers while filming an action sequence.
It's the second time in two weeks that the Bond actor has been injured during filming. A week ago his face was cut and required eight stitches. The accident marks the latest in a string of mishaps during production of the 22nd film in the Bond franchise.
Just recently, a fire broke out that caused severe damage to an outdoor Bond set. In April, a stuntman was hospitalized with serious injuries in an accident behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo sports car in northern Italy. While days before, another car to be used in the production, an Aston Martin DBS, skidded off the road into a lake, but the driver escaped with minor injuries.

Paul Newman has always been a fiercely private man, shunning the trappings of fame wrought by his Hollywood career while immersing himself in auto racing, philanthropy and a multimillion-dollar food business. On Wednesday, a longtime neighbor and business partner confirmed to The Associated Press that Newman told him about the disease about 18 months ago.
"It's a form of cancer and he's dealing with it," said A.E. Hotchner, a writer who partnered with Newman to start Newman's Own salad dressing company in the 1980s. Hotchner did not specify what kind of cancer Newman had, but said the actor is in active treatment.
There were earlier indications that Newman might be struggling with an illness. Recent photos showed the actor appearing gaunt; he dropped plans to direct a play in his Connecticut hometown late last month; and while he attended a practice for the Indianapolis 500 in early May, he wasn't on hand for the Memorial Day weekend race.
Martha Stewart, in an entry dated June 6, posted a photo on her blog of herself with the actor, who looked thin, at a luncheon to benefit the Hole in the Wall Gang camps for critically ill children. (The Hole in the Wall Gang was led by Newman's affable outlaw character, Butch, in the 1969 film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.")

A New Zealand newspaper reports that one of the last shipments made to a US research facility in Antarctica before the onset of winter darkness wasn't sophisticated technical equipment -- but a year's supply of condoms!
The 'Southland Times' says that nearly 16,500 condoms were delivered last month and would be made available, free of charge, to staff throughout the year. Why? To avoid the potential embarrassment of having to buy them. Huh? The base only has a skeleton staff through the long winter and, "since everybody knows everyone, it becomes a little bit uncomfortable."
About 125 scientists and staff are stationed at the base, which is the largest community in Antarctica during the winter months when there is constant darkness. The region will see its
next sunrise on August 20.
My question is this: How can it be embarrassing if everyone's doing it?

Life Isn't Easy as Nicole's Dad - Lionel Richie
Wednesday, June 11, 2008 | celeb news, tidbits with 0 Comments »It's not easy raising a celebutante. Take it from Lionel Richie. The singer was accepting the "Icon" honor at Sunday night's taping of the TV Land Awards, when he got applause and a laugh at daughter Nicole's expense.
"Forget about surviving 40 years in the music business," Lionel Richie told the audience. "Just surviving 27 years of Nicole Richie has been a struggle-and-a-half, I want to tell you. I stand here as a survivor, I want you to know, for all the parents out there."
In 2007, Nicole Richie spent 82 minutes in jail after being convicted of driving under the influence of drugs. She was arrested in December 2006 after witnesses reported seeing her Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle headed the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank,
Calif.
Nicole, who made a name for herself on Fox's "The Simple Life" along with Paris Hilton, hasn't posed for any mug shots lately. Rather, she has been spotted out and about with 3-month-old Harlow, her daughter with Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden.

'Entertainment Tonight' Admits It Was Duped
Friday, June 06, 2008 | hollywood, television with 0 Comments »'Entertainment Tonight', the show that claimed over the weekend that it had confirmed from an insider that Angelina Jolie had given birth to her twins and stood behind the story despite denials from Jolie's camp, now says it was duped by an impostor.
At the time, Anchor Mary Hart reported the ET 'scoop' on the air and said: "Just this morning, a source who says she was inside the delivery room tells us, 'Yes, the babies were born and, yes, mother and babies are fine.'" ET did not name its source at the time, but now says it was based on e-mails from someone it thought was Jolie's assistant Holly Goline. Apparently, a producer on the show obtained the impostor's email from a 'contact' at another network.
However, today the show released a statement reading: "Entertainment Tonight takes this very seriously and is, of course, concerned that the show may have been victimized by someone allegedly posing as a member of Ms. Jolie's team. We are actively investigating the matter and are reaching out to law enforcement agencies."
Jolie's reps have begun circulating a letter to media outlets warning them of the impostor.

'Sex and the City' and its frenzied female fans helped knock the latest 'Indiana Jones' adventure from atop the weekend box office standings, in what was just the movie's second weekend.
The movie based on the HBO tv series debuted with an unprecedented $55.7 million three-day gross, based on early studio estimates. Easily beating the expectations of its distributor, Warner Bros. Pictures, which hoped for an opening in the $25 million to $35 million range. Paramount Pictures' Indy adventure slipped to second spot with $46 million.
The debut makes 'Sex and the City' the top-opening romantic comedy of all time, surpassing 'Hitch' ($43 million), 'The Break-Up' ($39 million) and 'Knocked Up' ($31 million).
